Dell | ASAP Software Implements the webMethods Integration Platform to Expand eProcurement Capabilities Flexibility, scalability and advanced technology key customer benefits
St Ouen –European headquarter -- Dell | ASAP Software, the first and one of the largest international software licensing services providers, recently implemented the webMethods integration platform to enhance its award-winning eBusiness solution, Dell | ASAP Software Online, and specifically to provide more choices to its online customers.
"Implementing the webMethods integration platform gives our customers the choice of purchasing our products through eBuy, our eProcurement area in Dell | ASAP Software Online, using eMarketplace applications such as Ariba® Punchout" says Bob Lewandowski, vice president, systems for Dell | ASAP Software worldwide. "The benefits go well beyond those added eBusiness capabilities. webMethods' software also gives us much broader integration support and flexibility because it works with a wider variety of protocols; it goes beyond XML and cXML to include EDI, , ERP systems, PeopleSoft and so forth. In the end, if a customer wants to access eBuy, use their own accounting system to generate a PO, and have our system invoice them directly, we’ll do that."
The webMethods integration platform enables Internet collaboration, allowing Dell | ASAP Software to connect its IT infrastructure to that of its customers and vendor partners, facilitating seamless real-time transactions. webMethods’ end-to-end integration offering includes extensive support for standards, protocols and alternative ways of transferring information. It provides pre-packaged interfaces with known eMarketplace procurement products, like Ariba and Commerce One, but is also completely customizable for any other eMarketplace or client, making development and implementation to other protocols faster and easier.
A technologically advanced, multilingual and multi-currency eBusiness application, Dell | ASAP Software Online allows organizations worldwide to order licenses against all of their volume software agreements. Customers can also purchase packaged software, media, documentation, add-on hardware, and technical services; obtain real-time pricing; track orders; schedule and run activity reports; place online requests for technical service and more. ASAP eSMART™, a powerful Web-based asset management tool, can also be accessed through Dell | ASAP Software Online.
"Implementing webMethods keeps us in a high profile technical position for eCommerce, plus it reinforces our leadership position among software licensing service providers -- if other vendors aren’t using webMethods, they won’t be able to offer the same flexibility and scalability that we can now provide," Lewandowski relates. "Our customers should be very happy with this increased functionality". |
